Donghe consistently picks up more swell than anywhere around East coast, start from Oct until Mar, generated by the NE Monsoon, the most consistent exciting walling wave rolling in which offers both rights and lefts at the same time . Usually if you get there at first light, it's perfect offshore clean wave, so the best time surfing Donghe is dawn and dusk, because the strong NE wind will pick up around 9AM till 3PM, but if you are lucky with the wind, you can surf all day long.
ChengGong is one of the best waves in Taiwan, and we are talking about Epic left-handed barrelling 100 meter wave riding. Yiwan is such a fun left which will keep building the wall while you riding it all the way in. Normally when the NE winds or SE swell destroyed all the waves in Taitung, this place is your last chance. For get in you should stick with the rivermouth to avoid the rapid current inside.
Bashien Dong is a classic power barrel grinding machine, one of the best lefts in Taiwan, it needs big NE swell to great the perfect walling line up. The crazy shorebreak slamming in even when it's small day, in big days, you'll need to catch the breath of sets and quickly paddle out, sometimes combined with the rapid current inside which is just make it impossible to get to the peak. This place is not for beginners.
Duli is a beautiful beach break which is perfect for longboarding & beginners during summer time.
